Jannik Sinner received a bye in the opening round and returns to the scene of what should have been the finest two weeks of his young tennis career. Sinner had destroyed almost all comers on his Miami Open main draw debut in 2021, but his best tennis eluded him when he needed it most. He lost to his good friend Hubert Hurkacz in the final. Sinner will enter this year’s edition with much higher expectations that at this stage last season.
