Will Carlos Alcaraz get the win? Will Marton Fucsovics pull off the upset? This will be a very fascinating one, where we have one of the most in form players on the ATP Tour taking on a player with a dangerous game. Who will triumph and move on to the Round of 32 at the 2022 Miami Open?
Carlos Alcaraz has been playing really well this year, with his only losses coming at the hands of top 10 players in Matteo Berrettini and Rafael Nadal. He has a really perfect game for any surface, but the conditions in Miami will suit him well, perhaps not as well as Indian Wells, and that’s why I don’t necessarily expect him to go super deep in the draw as we would on a slower court, but he most certainly is the clear favorite to take down Marton Fucsovics, who, while he is a great player in his own right, simply does not have the consistency to challenge Alcaraz as the rampaging teenager aims to progress at the 2022 Miami Open.
Marton Fucsovics got a nice win over a tough opponent to set up a meeting with a much tougher opponent in Carlos Alcaraz. Alcaraz is one of the best players on the ATP Tour right now in terms of form, and I most definitely expect him to win, and I do think Alcaraz will have a pretty easy time with Fucsovics, but with the way he plays, if he’s on and hitting the ball cleanly, he’s going to be really difficult to stop as he can play some great offensive tennis. Either way though, Alcaraz will likely battle through and book his spot in the next stage of the 2022 Miami Open.
Carlos Alcaraz and Marton Fucsovics have met once before, with Carlos Alcaraz leading the head to head 1-0. Their one meeting came last year before the US Open in a rather strange match, it was a 3 set match with each set being quite one-sided. I don’t expect a similar result in this match as Alcaraz is growing more and more consistent, but the young Spaniard could face a little bit of resistance here as he aims to get through in a rather straightforward fashion and move on to the Round of 32 at the 2022 Miami Open.
