TennisSection previews the 2022 Argentina Open as Diego Schwartzman takes on Jaume Munar in the Round of 16 on Thursday, February 10th, 2022.
Will Diego Schwartzman get the win? Will Jaume Munar pull off the upset? This will be an interesting one, where we a top seed taking on a tough first test. Who will move on to the quarterfinals at the 2022 Argentina Open?
Diego Schwartzman played an okay tournament last week in Cordoba, dropping out in the semifinals in straights. He now looks ahead to Jaume Munar, a guy who can play some great offensive tennis, especially on the clay courts. If you can play aggressively against Schwartzman, you have the game to counter him. Munar though is not particularly consistent and on the clay Schwartzman has a mastery of the game that few players in the world have at the moment. Let’s see if he can get a good start to his campaign here at the 2022 Argentina Open.
Jaume Munar has a very tough match ahead of him as he looks to take on no.2 seed Diego Schwartzman. In order to take him out, he will have to play all out aggressive tennis seeing as Schwartzman is extremely consistent. If Munar can play perfectly, he can win, but it just isn’t likely. Schwartzman looked a little rusty in his semifinals match in Cordoba, and I do think Munar will take a set off of him as Schwartzman can struggle against many guys on the ATP Tour considering his physical disadvantage. Schwartzman is still a top 15 player in the world though, and I expect him to take down Munar and move through here to the quarterfinals at the 2022 Argentina Open.
Diego Schwartzman and Jaume Munar have met 3 times before, with Diego Schwartzman leading the head to head 3-0. Schwartzman’s chances are elevated even more considering their head to head, where Schwartzman leads comfortably, especially on the clay. I ultimately expect him to pull it out, even though he may struggle a little and drop a set as he aims to get a good start to his campaign at the 2022 Argentina Open.
