TennisSection previews the 2021 Stockholm Open as Jannik Sinner takes on Andy Murray in the Round of 16 on Wednesday, November 10th, 2021.
Will Jannik Sinner get the win? Will Andy Murray pull off the upset? This will be an interesting one, where we have a thrilling matchup with a top next gen star taking on a legend of the sport. Who will move on to the quarterfinals at the 2021 Stockholm Open?
Jannik Sinner has been playing some unbelievable tennis, rising to the top 10 players in the world. He now faces Andy Murray, a tennis legend, while he is the clear favorite, it will be interesting to see how he controls his mental state as he clashes with Murray. He will overpower Murray, that’s for sure, and he will also be able to bully Murray off his serves, Murray has been playing good tennis, not as good as earlier in his career, but he’s playing at a top 20 level at times. Let’s see if Sinner can overcome Murray to book his place in the quarterfinals at the 2021 Stockholm Open.
Andy Murray got a shaky win to set up a very tough match coming up against Jannik Sinner. He took down a barely top 400 player, barely in the second set. If he isn’t crushing someone like that, to take down a top 10 player such as Sinner seems impossible. Granted, mental states will be at play, and while Sinner may get tight, he has a lot of motivation as Tsitsipas is unsure of whether or not he’ll play Turin so Sinner is hoping to stay ahead of FAA in the race so he can make the tournament. Let’s see if the legend can give the youngster a run for his money as the two clash for a spot in the final 8 at the 2021 Stockholm Open.
Jannik Sinner and Andy Murray have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. It’s a fascinating matchup, with Sinner being a massive hitter and Murray being a steady and versatile one. Sinner will overpower him from the back of the court, simply hitting too big for Murray to be able to do too much about it, if Sinner just hits big, he will be able to take advantage of a lot of short balls, but he shouldn’t be trying to come into the net too often, as Murray is a brilliant defender and Sinner is not known for his net play. Let’s see if he can get through this one as he aims to book his spot in the quarterfinals and begin his campaign with a strong start here at the 2021 Stockholm Open.
