Will Aslan Karatsev get the win? Will John Millman pull off the upset? This will be an interesting one, where we have one of the most in-form players in the world right now taking on an ATP veteran, and a real tough teSt Who will move on to the quarterfinals at the 2021 St Petersburg Open?
Aslan Karatsev is coming off an excellent week in Moscow, clinching the Kremlin Cup without dropping a set against some great players. He has a great shot to kick his campaign here at the St Petersburg Open off with some great momentum, coming up against John Millman. Millman has been playing pretty well lately, however, he likely will stand little to no chance against Karatsev, who plays a really aggressive game on a quick court, on top of being really consistent lately. Every element of his game is just glowing at the moment, being able to stay in long rallies, but often either angling his shots crosscourt or redirecting them down the line, hitting so many perfect, clean winners. On top of that, his serve has been impeccable, as well as his closing skills at the net. Of course, his return is probably the most impressive, serve after serve, he just crushes them back with ease. If he can return aggressively against Millman, then he should be looking good for another great week here at the 2021 St Petersburg Open.

In order to take out Karatsev, he will have to try and change his game to be more aggressive, as simply staying in the rallies won’t do it for him, Karatsev will already be on top of the points with his great service and return games, so Millman will have to work extra hard to not get even more behind. Let’s see if he can challenge Karatsev as the two clash for a spot in the quarterfinals at the 2021 St Petersburg Open.
Aslan Karatsev and John Millman have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. It’s a pretty interesting matchup, with Karatsev being pure offense, and Millman being a lot more grindy and trying to wear out his opponent with physical rallies. On a quick indoor hardcourt, that doesn’t really work. Karatsev will be getting on top of the rallies quickly, being able to make inroads as soon as he hits the first ball. If he can just continue his form, there’s really no stopping him in a draw like this as he aims to start his 2021 St Petersburg Open campaign off with a blaSt
