TennisSection previews the 2021 US Open as Alexander Zverev takes on Jack Sock in the Round of 32 on Saturday, September 4th, 2021.
Will Jack Sock get another good win under his belt, but this time being one of the biggest wins of his career? Will Alexander Zverev continue to shine as he is playing at his near best in all aspects of his game as he aims to get closer to his maiden Grand Slam? Both players are experienced and know they can compete at a very high level, but only one will make their way to the Round of 16 of the 2021 US Open. Who will it be?
Jack Sock put on an incredible performance in the Round of 64, maintaining his composure in a 5-set win over the always tough Alexander Bublik, beating the Kazakh 7-6/6-7/6-4/4-6/6-3. Jack Sock is in great form at the moment and he has been able to find the game which we all know and love to see from him, albeit not as good as he used to be. Jack will come out here at the 2021 US Open in every match knowing that he will have a great time with the support of the crowd, and the fact that he has been so successful and also unsuccessful in recent years gives him a lot of determination. However, he now needs to be at his peak if he wants to beat Alexander Zverev.
Alexander Zverev cruised through his Round of 64 match against the experienced Albert Ramos-Vinolas, beating him in straight sets 6-1/6-0/6-3. Alexander is being flawless in his game with his serve being at its best its been in years, and his forehand and backhand being so consistent. Alexander knows that he can beat anyone here and if he continues to focus on staying at his best, he has a great chance of beating Jack Sock and continuing to build momentum here at the 2021 US Open as he aims to get closer to a maiden Grand Slam.
Alexander Zverev and Jack Sock have met 3 times before, with Jack Sock leading the head to head 2-1. They have not met since 2017, and since then their careers have gone in opposite directions. Alexander has been impeccable recently, and Jack has been finding his form again. However, if Alexander comes out serving incredibly well and getting his forehand and backhand firing, I think that Jack Sock, even at his peak, cannot hang with him. I expect for a straightforward win for the German as he makes his way to the Round of 16 of the 2021 US Open.
