Will Jannik Sinner go through? Will Zachary Svajda pull off the upset? This match will be an interesting one, where we have Sinner being the extremely heavy favorite, let’s see if he can handle the pressure and put on a strong showing. Who will move on to the Round of 32 at the 2021 US Open?
Jannik Sinner got a pretty solid win in four sets to set up this meeting vs. Zachary Svajda. Despite the fact that he probably should have won in straights, he definitely was hitting the ball really well, returning and serving in a very consistent manner as well. He is the very heavy favorite to win this match, considering the enormous ranking difference and level of play. This, however, does not mean that Sinner will win super easily as it may seem he should, Sinner is young and is not yet playing at a super consistent level, especially mentally. Don’t get me wrong, he’s very talented and for the most part, is quite stable in those areas, but it will be interesting to see if he’s able to handle the very fortunate situation he’s in and get an easy win to move on to the next round at the 2021 US Open.
Zachary Svajda pulled off a huge upset to set up this meeting with Jannik Sinner, being ranked 714th in the world, it was very shocking despite the fact that his opponent has been struggling recently anyway. He now has to take on a top 15 player in the world, 20 year old Jannik Sinner, a very hard hitter with a very versatile game. It will be the hardest match of his life for sure, and if he were to pull it off, it would be an absolutely insane upset. While I doubt he would even be able to push Jannik to a single tiebreaker, let alone win a set, the fact that he beat Chechinnato shows that he isn’t an absolute nobody, he has the level to win a match at grand slam level, an incredible feat. Let’s see if he’ll be able to translate any of that confidence into some sort of level to be able to take on Sinner for a spot in the Round of 32 at the 2021 US Open.
Jannik Sinner and Zachary Svajda have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. Very unsurprisingly, these two have never played each other before, I suspect Sinner will deliver a brutal straight sets crushing, but even still, it will be cool to see if the young talent can handle the occasion, he’s been pretty consistent, being able to make a couple good runs in slams already, now with an opportunity to move through to the third round, and definitely, with potential to move forward, it will be interesting to see if he’ll manage to deal with that kind of pressure. Overall though, Svajda stands little to no chance against Sinner as he continues his campaign here at the 2021 US Open.
