TennisSection previews the 2021 Wimbledon Championships as Coco Gauff (20) meets Kaja Juvan in the Round of 32 on Saturday, July 3rd 2021.
Will Kaja Juvan get a very big win under her belt as she aims to make a big name for herself on the tour? Will Coco Gauff continue to play at a high level as she aims to go further than she did last time at Wimbledon? This will be an interesting match, especially as Kaja Juvan is underrated, but only one will make their way to the Round of 16 of the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. Who will it be?
Kaja Juvan cruised through her Round of 64 match against the qualifier Burel, beating the Frenchwoman in straight sets 6-3/6-4. Kaja Juvan is a good player on her day, but she is also inconsistent most of the time. This gives her opponents a lot of confidence coming into matches. However, recently, Juvan has been able to get some consistency under her belt in Grand Slams and she will want to continue playing this well. Juvan will have to be at her best now as she meets Coco Gauff in the Round of 16 who is very determined to make a name for herself at the tournament which made her famous.
Coco Gauff also cruised through her Round of 64 match, beating Elena Vesnina in straight sets 6-4/6-3. Coco Gauff loves the 2021 Wimbledon Championships as this was the tournament where she made her original breakthrough. Coco knows that she still has some aspects to improve in her game, such as her second serve percentage and speed, but if she is able to have a high percentage on her first serve, she will more often than not be fine in matches. Now that she meets Kaja Juvan, Coco will not want to let her guard down at any time as if she does she will regret it.
Coco Gauff and Kaja Juvan have met 2 times before, with the head to head tied at 1-1. They have had tight encounters, with their last one being won earlier this year by Coco in 3 sets 3-6/7-5/6-3. Coco Gauff has been in much better form since their last encounter so I expect for her to come out here confident. Kaja is a solid player, but her best surface is not grass whilst Coco is good in these conditions. I still expect for this to be a tight encounter as they know eachother quite well, but Coco Gauff will make her way to the Round of 16 fo the 2021 Wimbledon Championships.
