However, when you are playing against a big name in a big tournament, nerves can come into play. Can O’Connell put those aside and aim to cause yet another upset by a lower ranked opponent against Monfils this year?

Gael, when confident in his shots, free from injuries, and consistent, is so hard to beat. However, he has lost to such lower ranked opponents this year, including Max Purcell last week. Gael needs to come out here ready to make a statement at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships, but he needs to prevent Christopher O’Connell from causing the early round upset first.
Gael Monfils and Christopher O’Connell have never met before, with this being their first meeting. If Monfils was at his best, I would choose him to win this match in straight sets without even batting an eyelid. However, he is not. Christopher will come into this match with some confidence, and he will come out here ready to give it his all. It will be tight, and both players will have ups and downs. At the end of the day, Christopher will get 1 set under his belt, and Gael will fight to win the other 3 and make his way to the Round of 64 of the 2021 Wimbledon Championships.
