TennisSection previews the 2021 Wimbledon Championships as Serena Williams (6) meets Aliaksandra Sasnovich in the Round of 128 on Tuesday, June 29th 2021.
Will Aliaksandra Sasnovich get the biggest win of her career under her belt as she aims to beat one of the best players at Wimbledon ever? Will Serena Williams come out here in the hopes of finally getting her hands on her 24th Grand Slam title as she begins her Wimbledon campaign? This will be a great way to see where Serena’s level is at, will she be dominating, or will she have to fight early on?
Aliaksandra Sasnovich is not a very well known player, mainly focusing on smaller tournaments if she is able to qualify. Speaking of qualification, she did not qualify for the Berlin Open a couple weeks ago when she was one of the better players in that qualification. Sasnovich does not breed confidence or consistency when you watch her play, more of a up and down player who relies on her opponents to be not at their best. Now that Aliaksandra Sasnovich meets Serena Williams right from the start of the 2021 Wimbledon Championships, she will have to be even better than her best to just hope to get a few games under her belt.
Serena Williams will be happy to be back on her favourite surface here at Wimbledon as she begins her 24th Grand Slam title campaign. Serena Williams has struggled a lot with form, especially in Grand Slams as the longer she goes on, the tougher it is for her to recover. However, the last time she was here in 2019 she was able to make it to the Final. If Serena is able to make it to the Final again this year, she will have a strong chance as she would have been able to come through the tough side of the draw. First things first, she will need to beat Aliaksandra Sasnovich and see where her level is at.
Serena Williams and Aliaksandra Sasnovich have never met before, with this being their first meeting. Aliaksandra Sasnovich has no chance to get anything going in this match in my opinion. If she can’t beat an even more unknown player during qualifying or a small tournament, she won’t be able to beat a 23x Grand Slam Champion. Serena will not want to waste any time on court to ensure she can recover and be at her best for more important matches, therefore I see her dominating this match in straight sets to make her way to the Round of 64 of the 2021 Wimbledon Championships.
