Will Cameron Norrie continue his amazing run of form here in Lyon which has seen him knock out some very big names in just one week such as Dominic Thiem and Karen Khachanov? Will Stefanos Tsitsipas lift another title for the year to get his tally to 2 and continue establishing himself at the top of the match winners table in 2021? This is going to be an interesting match between two different types of players. Who will become the 2021 Lyon Open Champion?
Cameron Norrie has been absolutely incredible all week here at the 2021 Lyon Open, beating everyone easily in straight sets (except for his easiest opponent, Arthur Rinderknech, who was able to steal a set). In the Semi-finals, Cameron Norrie beat Karen Khachanov in dominant fashion 6-1/6-1, not even giving the experienced and big title winning Russian a chance to get anything going. Cameron Norrie has played the tennis of his life this week, but now he meets someone who has been playing the tennis of his life this year consistently in Stefanos Tsitsipas. Can the Brit get his first career title under his belt here at the 2021 Lyon Open?
Stefanos Tsitsipas had to fight back from a set down against the very in form and up and coming Italian youngster, Lorenzo Musetti, winning in 3 sets 4-6/6-3/6-0. Stefanos Tsitsipas was good all throughout the match, but just let his guard down towards the end of the third set. Afterwards, he was able to use his amazing forehand to dictate play off of the back of his kick serve. Lorenzo is still quite inexperienced, therefore in the long run Stefanos Tsitsipas just grew in confidence as he got into his rhythm and dominated the rest of the match. Stefanos will be entering his 3rd Single’s Final of the year here at the 2021 Lyon Open and he will be looking to beat Cameron Norrie to win his 2nd title of the year.
Stefanos Tsitsipas and Cameron Norrie have never met before, with this being their first meeting on the ATP Tour. This is going to be a fun matchup as Cameron Norrie is a lefty and Stefanos Tsitsipas has an amazing forehand and one-handed backhand. Tsitsipas will be able to withstand the pressure from Norrie on his backhand side, and he will be looking to then transfer that over into his forehand to see how Norrie deals with the pressure of hitting backhands constantly. Tsitsipas loves playing against the likes of Nadal, so I think that a challenge from Norrie will not be much for him to deal with. Norrie has had an amazing week, but Tsitsipas will win here.
