WTA Nottingham Predictions
Anhelina Kalinina vs Harriet Dart Prediction
So far it’s been a great tournament for the home players with no fewer than four British players in the round of 16 at the Nottingham Open. But this is where the challenge gets significantly more complicated. Harriet Dart, a fine player on her day, and very much capable of taking the game to the WTA’s best has the seriously difficult task of playing the world no. 25 Anhelina Kalinina. But I actually think Dart has a fair chance of winning here despite what the odds suggest. She has a far greater level of experience playing on grass and Kalinna looked shaky in beating Parrizas Dias in her opener. Dart has won four of her five matches on grass this season and the one defeat was against Wimbledon semifinalist Tatjana Maria, and even there, she managed to steal a set. The Dart set handicap looks extremely attractive at -167 which won’t be too bad to stick it in a parlay.
Best Bet: Harriet Dart to win a set @ 1.60
Katie Boulter vs Daria Snigur Prediction
Katie Boulter started the week as the new British No. 1, overtaking Emma Raducanu in the rankings. And Boulter played like one in her straight sets dismissal of Emily Appleton. However, she was broken twice by the world no. 420 and served three double faults, which obviously shows the frailties in Boulter’s game. Daria Snigur can be aggressive and I can see her getting a fair few chances of attacking Boulter’s serve when it malfunctions. Snigur is coming off her second career top-10 win, beating defending champion, Haddad Maia. The Ukranian pushed Boulter to three in their only meeting in Tallinn last year. And the 21-year-old loves the grass, she’s been surprisingly competitive so far, averaging at least one set in all her six matches. The games spread at evens is worth taking a punt here.
Best Bet: Over 21.5 games @ 1.99
Magda Linette vs Jodie Burrage Prediction
Another Brit could have her hands full here as Jodie Burrage takes on top-30 player Magda Linette. Burrage played a three-hour first-round match where she upset Tereza Martincova. But the stats made for pretty shocking reading as Burrage tallied an astonishing 102 unforced errors! Surely Magda Linette isn’t going to waste the opportunity of stringing back-to-back wins for the first time since March.
Best Bet: Magda Linette ML @ 1.40
Camila Giorgi vs Elizabeth Mandlik Prediction
Camila Giorgi won her opening match in Nottingham, but it was such a peculiar match, and that first set could have turned out differently. Giorgi led 5-0 in the first set but the match was halted due to a rain delay and was completed the following day, with Giorgi blowing that insurmountable lead with the set eventually going to a tiebreak, although she managed to cool off Brengle and won it in the end. She prevailed 7-6, 6-2, and now faces another American in Elizabeth Mandlik. The two have never faced each other, but Mandlik has shown genuine promise already in her first season on grass. But we’ll take the experience of Giorgi here.
Best Bet: Camila Giorgi ML @ 1.25
