This will be an interesting one, where we have the man who was on the verge of the No. 1 ranking last season still on the comeback trail as he takes on a very dangerous opponent coming off some great tennis last week. Alexander Zverev has played some very encouraging tennis in the last weeks, losing an absolutely epic match to Daniil Medvedev in Indian Wells after making a great run to the semifinals in Dubai. We know the kind of tennis he’s capable of, and he’s had a great history here in Miami. Although Taro Daniel is a tough first opponent, I expect Zverev to get through it and book his place in the Round of 32 at the 2023 Miami Masters.

Taro Daniel had a great run last week himself, taking down Matteo Berrettini before falling in a tight battle to Cameron Norrie. Daniel has been playing some excellent tennis since Acapulco, and though he hasn’t gotten lucky in taking on Alexander Zverev, he’ll have a chance to pull off the upset. Let’s see if he can bring it to the German to fight for a spot in the last 32 of the 2023 Miami Masters.

Alexander Zverev and Taro Daniel have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. The pair have never met before, though I suspect Zverev will have some troubles with Daniel. He’s an excellent mover, and he’ll be able to put a lot of balls back in the court and make Zverev work. The arsenal Zverev has at his disposal though will surely get him through this one and into the 3rd round at the 2023 Miami Masters.
