Cameron Norrie impressively cruised past 6th seed Andrey Rublev, taking him out 6-2 6-4. Though it was certainly a poor display from Rublev, Norrie’s defense was unbelievable, with Rublev not being able to get a ball past him. As he comes up against Frances Tiafoe, I think he’ll be surging with confidence. If Rublev couldn’t attack Norrie with his pace, I don’t think Tiafoe will have enough artillery to be able to take it to Norrie consistently enough to pull out a win here, let’s see if Norrie can keep it up and get back to the semifinals of the 2023 Indian Wells Masters.

Frances Tiafoe has made light work of most of his draw so far, taking advantage of a very open opportunity to move through to the quarterfinals. He’ll be taking on by far his toughest opponent yet though in Cameron Norrie, a former champion of this event and someone who is playing some extremely good tennis. If Tiafoe wants to win, he needs to serve big and shorten up the points, though that may prove too difficult in these conditions as they clash for a place in the final four at the 2023 Indian Wells Masters.

Cameron Norrie and Frances Tiafoe have met once before, with Cameron Norrie leading the head to head 1-0. Norrie took their only Tour-level meeting which also came in the United States two years ago, taking him out in three sets. This time around, I expect the outcome to be the same, but I also think Norrie will come out firing and be the man dictating from every part of the court to book himself a place in the semifinals at the 2023 Indian Wells Masters.
