Borna Coric took down 2nd seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in a 3rd set tiebreaker, a 3rd win in a row for him over the Greek. Despite the big name upset, Coric generally has good success over Tsitsipas, never losing a complete match to him. I wasn’t overly impressed by his serving which was such a feature of his win in Cincinnati a couple months ago. If he doesn’t raise that aspect of his game, he may just run out of luck as he looks to pull off back to back upsets en route to the semifinals of the 2022 Vienna Open.

Hubert Hurkacz and Borna Coric have met twice before, with the head to head being tied at 1-1. They haven’t played in almost 2 years, with Coric’s hiatus from the game and Hurkacz’s more recent rise to the top, it’s a difficult matchup to analyze. However, Hurkacz’s massive serving and first strike tennis will play a big role in this quarterfinal, and I suspect Hurkacz will meet expectations here even if he has to come through a tough battle to book his spot in the last 4 at the 2022 Vienna Open.
