TennisSection previews the 2022 Vienna Open as Hubert Hurkacz takes on Emil Ruusuvuori in the Round of 16 on Thursday, October 27th, 2022.
Will Hubert Hurkacz get the win? Will Emil Ruusuvuori pull off the upset? This will be a fascinating one, where Hurkacz looks to grab some key points to make a bid for the ATP Finals once again, but stands in his way is the powerful youngster. Who will triumph and move through to the quarterfinals at the 2022 Vienna Open?
Hubert Hurkacz took down Frances Tiafoe in an anticipated match, barely winning the first set and eventually having to do it in 3. Emil Ruusuvuori won’t be an easy match by any means, but Hurkacz will be expected to make a showing to the last eight. The main key for him here is to keep the serves big, not allowing Ruusuvuori to go all out, just trying to keep him away will do the trick here at the 2022 Vienna Open.
Emil Ruusuvuori has a tough one here as he looks to somehow pull off the win against 5th seed Hubert Hurkacz. If he wants to win this one, he’ll have to hope Hurkacz is off his game. I don’t think that’s too realistic of an expectation though, so we will expect to see Ruusuvuori playing some big time tennis as he always does, but whether or not he can control his own aggression and handle the serving of Hurkacz is another issue as these two square off for a spot in the quarterfinals of the 2022 Vienna Open.
Hubert Hurkacz and Emil Ruusuvuori have met twice before, with the head to head being tied at 1-1. Interestingly enough, both of their matches came in back to back tournaments earlier this season in Washington and Canada, with Hurkacz winning the 2nd in a tight match but falling to an upset in Washington. This court is quite a bit quicker though, and I expect Hurkacz to move through to the last eight of the 2022 Vienna Open.
