If he wants to win this one, there’s no other way but to hope that Nadal is not playing well in the slightest, but even if Nadal is off his game, this is a horrible matchup for Gasquet, with Nadal being able to bully the backhand of Gasquet despite how good it is, and the forehand of the Frenchman hardly being able to compensate for the lack of aggression off his backhand wing when playing Nadal. Let’s see if he can somehow stay in this one at the 2022 US Open.

Rafael Nadal and Richard Gasquet have met seventeen times before, with Rafael Nadal leading the head to head 17-0. In one of the most lopsided head to heads in ATP Tour history, Gasquet has barely even won sets off Nadal. On the hard courts of New York, there’s nothing to suggest that Nadal will face any adversity in this 3rd round clash aside from problems on his own side of the court.
