Tommy Paul has been playing some good tennis since last season where he won in Stockholm. Although he’s not a consistent title contender, he can cause damage anywhere he goes. Unfortunately for him though, he faces Nick Kyrgios, one of the hottest players on the ATP Tour. If Paul wants to win, he’s going to have to play really aggressively, and force the defensive hand of the Australian as the two clash for a spot in the last 16 of the 2022 Citi Open.

Nick Kyrgios got a great win over Marcos Giron, looking as if he’d just left center court Wimbledon in the same form, winning 6-3 6-2. While Tommy Paul is a great player with an amazing game, he doesn’t have the big bomb of a serve or any blasters off either wing for that matter. He will have a very hard time in repelling the offensive barrage from Kyrgios. I expect him to continue his dazzling streak at the 2022 Citi Open.

Tommy Paul and Nick Kyrgios have met once before, with Nick Kyrgios leading the head to head 1-0. Their one meeting came this season in Houston, on the clay. Even on the worst surface of Kyrgios, he managed to win very easily. And as a former champion in Washington, I expect him to put on just as good of a performance as he aims to take down a tough opponent en route to the Round of 16 at the 2022 Citi Open.
