Alex de Minaur took down Ilya Ivashka in a tough 3 sets to set up a meeting in the final against Jenson Brooksby, and it’s going to be quite the challenge. Although de Minaur is playing some solid tennis, Brooksby’s game presents quite a few hardships for the Australian. In order to fight him off, he’s going to have to go on the offense, especially off his return. Brooksby’s service game isn’t particularly potent, so that’ll be the primary key to the win for him as he looks to win it all at the 2022 Atlanta Open.

Jenson Brooksby took down Frances Tiafoe very easily, setting himself up for what could be a very important final in the young career of the American. In front of him stands Alex de Minaur, a player who at his best can be very scary, and Brooksby will have to be as sharp as he was in the semifinals. I really like the matchup for him though, as de Minaur is primarily a defensive player and prefers to slowly turn the point in his favor, unfortunately for him, Brooksby is a very neutral player, and he won’t give de Minaur anything to work with at all as Brooksby looks to win big in front of his home crowd at the 2022 Atlanta Open.

Alex de Minaur and Jenson Brooksby have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. It’s a fascinating matchup for sure, and it could go either way if the two are at their best, although I expect Brooksby to be the one dictating this match. Brooksby’s game allows him to dictate de Minaur in a way that few others can, by simply playing the ball, de Minaur is going to get frustrated and not be able to perform his typical counterpunching blows. While the pair have each had a great week here, I expect the American to take down de Minaur and clinch the gold here at the 2022 Atlanta Open.
