Atlanta Open 2022: Alex de Minaur vs. Ilya Ivashka Tennis Pick and Prediction

TennisSection previews the 2022 Atlanta Open as Alex de Minaur takes on Ilya Ivashka in the semifinals on Saturday, July 30th, 2022.

Will Alex de Minaur get the win? Will Ilya Ivashka pull off the upset? This will be a fascinating one, where offense meets defense as we have a very diverse matchup. Who will triumph and move on to the semifinals at the 2022 Atlanta Open?

Alex de Minaur took down Adrian Mannarino in a tough 3 setter, but really asserted his dominance in the end, winning the latter sets 6-3 6-0, and he’ll be looking to lay down the hammer as he faces Ilya Ivashka, the opposite of de Minaur, and could very well pull the upset here, but it won’t be easy as the Australian wall looks to make some moves here at the 2022 Atlanta Open.

Ilya Ivashka took down Tommy Paul in an incredibly impressive performance, and I expect him to continue that level as he faces Alex de Minaur. Although it won’t be easy, after the win he got on Friday, he looks to be in a very good position to fight to pull off the upset. In order to have success though, he will have to really hit through the ball and have an incredible serving performance as well. Let’s see if he can make it all the way to the final at the 2022 Atlanta Open.

Alex de Minaur and Ilya Ivashka have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. It really is a clash of styles, and I favor Ivashka here. When he’s at the top of his game, he is very tough to beat. De Minaur is primarily defensive and neutral, and while he can produce some miraculous play, as of late he hasn’t been able to do that. Let’s see if Ivashka can keep it up and pull off the upset to book a spot in the final at the 2022 Atlanta Open.
