Atlanta Open 2022: John Isner vs. Jenson Brooksby Tennis Pick and Prediction

TennisSection previews the 2022 Atlanta Open as Jenson Brooksby takes on John Isner in the quarterfinals on Friday, July 29th, 2022.

Will John Isner get the win? Will Jenson Brooksby pull off the upset? This will be a fascinating one, where we have two opposing styles facing off for the first time. Who will triumph and move on to the semifinals at the 2022 Atlanta Open?

Jenson Brooksby got a very good win over Mackenzie McDonald, taking him down 6-3 6-4. His game is very well suited for the conditions here, and I only expect that to continue as he faces John Isner. Although against Isner, it will get much trickier. It’s a very consistent tournament for Isner, and I can’t say that I think Brooksby’s game is particularly well suited to take on John Isner as he looks to advance to the semifinals of the 2022 Atlanta Open.

John Isner had quite a difficult win over a relatively unknown opponent in Ben Shelton, but he managed to get it done in the end. Although Jenson Brooksby is a player of much higher caliber, I expect Isner to not only regroup for the next match, but to match up very well against the younger American. With his incredible serve and quick paced game, it’s a great counter to Brooksby as he aims to once again advance to the semifinals at the 2022 Atlanta Open.

Jenson Brooksby and John Isner have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. As I’ve already outlined, it’s quite a good matchup for Isner, although with the way Brooksby can play on this surface and with the struggles Isner has faced, anything really can happen. I expect a hard fought contest, but ultimately Isner will take down Brooksby to book himself a place in the last 4 at the 2022 Atlanta Open.
