Will Rafael Nadal get the win? Will Corentin Moutet pull off the upset? This will be a fascinating one, where we have the eternal favorite of Roland Garros taking on a Frenchman in what should be a noisy affair. Who will triumph and move on to the Round of 32 at the 2022 French Open?
Rafael Nadal looked pretty good against Thompson, dropping just 6 games en route to the second round where he’ll face local Corentin Moutet. Nadal should never have to worry about a lack of crowd support, but I’m sure the locals will be rowdy and try to help out their hometown hero. Nadal was a little sloppy in some instances, but it was just as normal as any match out there today and his foot didn’t seem to be affecting him out there. Let’s see what the 21 time grand slam champion can bring on Wednesday on his quest for an incredible 14th title here at the 2022 French Open.
Corentin Moutet took down Stan Wawrinka, a former champion here and while no doubt a great win, most certainly against a weaker Stan. If taking on a former champion wasn’t enough, he now looks ahead to the 13-time French Open champion in Rafael Nadal. Realistically, he stands almost no chance here unless his infamous foot injury will act up. Nadal will totally dictate him from the back of the court, and I really don’t see much of a way for him to win even many games as he’ll look to make the most of this match at the 2022 French Open.
Rafael Nadal and Corentin Moutet have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. Nadal’s main goal is to get through the early rounds as quickly as possible, which he has historically done very well, never losing in the first week and only 3 times in the second. While Moutet may have some of the crowd, that’s likely all he’ll have as the 5th seed and Spanish legend looks to continue his campaign here at the 2022 French Open.
