Pablo Carreno Busta hasn’t been playing amazing as of late, but he’s had some tough competition. As we head into the clay he is not a guy who should be underestimated. Alexander Bublik will be a nice first test for him, and while he should win as Bublik really isn’t a clay courter, we may be surprised. Busta plays a very consistent game, but is also able to pull the trigger from time to time, much like RBA, but more grindy. Let’s see if he can utilize his game to get a good start to his clay season at the Monte-Carlo Masters 2022.
Alexander Bublik took down tennis legend Stanislas Wawrinka to book an even tougher meeting coming up against Pablo Carreno Busta. I think Bublik can ride his wave of momentum and push Busta in this match, but ultimately, there will be little that he can do to take this one. He had a tough match against Wawrinka, and he really doesn’t like the clay. I expect him to be the aggressor, but he’ll likely make too many errors in the end for the clay mastery of Pablo Carreno Busta at the Monte-Carlo Masters 2022.
Pablo Carreno Busta and Alexander Bublik have met twice before, with Pablo Carreno Busta leading the head to head 2-0. Their head to head further reinforces the idea of a favorable matchup for PCB. Their two meetings came a while ago, in 2016 and in 2019, but both on hard courts with Carreno Busta winning anyway. If he can do that there, then I fully expect him to replicate those results and book himself a place in the Round of 16 at the Monte-Carlo Masters 2022.
