Alejandro Davidovich Fokina has been playing great, playing really entertaining and tight matches recently against top 10 opponents in Stefanos Tsitsipas and Jannik Sinner, just losing out in both of them. I think he has a very easy match to move on here, as Borna Coric, while very skilled, is returning after a long hiatus, and there’s little he could do to take on a player who is able to challenge guys at the highest level. Let’s see if Davidovich Fokina can maintain his great form as he aims to book a spot in the Round of 64 at the 2022 Indian Wells Open.
Borna Coric has not played in a long time, and there will definitely be very little that he can do to stop the rampage of Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. He definitely does have a great game for slow hard courts, and his results in Indian Wells in the past prove it. But we haven’t seen the guy in a long time, we have no idea what his level is like, so it’s only fair to assume Davidovich Fokina will easily take this one as he looks to move through at the 2022 Indian Wells Open.
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and Borna Coric have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. Both players have very versatile games, being able to play on all court speeds, but as I’ve already prefaced quite a few times, Coric doesn’t really have any extra skills or near enough experience to be a player who we expect to start winning upon return after an injury break. Davidovich Fokina, especially considering that he’s in great form, is most certainly a heavy favorite in this one as he looks to move on to the Round of 64 at the 2022 Indian Wells Open.
