Tokyo 2020 Olympics: Stefanos Tsitsipas vs. Ugo Humbert Tennis Pick and Prediction

Stefanos Tsitsipas Ugo Humbert Tokyo 2020 Olympics

TennisSection previews the Tokyo 2020 Olympics as Stefanos Tsitsipas takes on Ugo Humbert in the Round of 16 on Wednesday, July 28th, 2021.

Will Ugo Humbert be able to get another big win over Stefanos Tsitsipas under his belt as he aims to make it to the Quarter-Finals? Will Stefanos Tsitsipas back up that very strong win over Frances Tiafoe to get himself in the Quarter-Finals and one step closer to a medal her at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Both players can win this match but only one will make their way to the Quarter-Finals of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Who will it be?

Ugo Humbert had to fight back from a set down in a very tight match against Miomir Kecmanovic, beating the Serbian in 3 sets 4-6/7-6/7-5. Ugo Humbert is such a good player in hard court and grass court conditions because he can take the ball very flat and he can use his lefty game to move his opponents to their weakest side usually, their backhand side, to get on top of rallies. Ugo Humbert will come out in this Round of 16 match knowing that he can beat Stefanos Tsitsipas as he has done it before, but it is now a much bigger stage as it is for a spot in the Quarter-Finals of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Stefanos Tsitsipas cruised through his second round match against Frances Tiafoe, getting a statement revenge win in straight sets 6-3/6-4. Tsitsipas showed us that his loss to Tiafoe at Wimbledon earlier this month was just a fluke as he was not ready to compete at his best on grass. Now on hard courts, Tsitsipas is looking ready to go as far as possible here in Tokyo as he wants to get himself in contention for a medal here and bring joy to all of his fans back home in Greece. Tsitsipas will have to be at his best now because he meets a very tough opponent in Ugo Humbert.

Stefanos Tsitsipas and Ugo Humbert have met 1 time before, with Ugo Humbert leading the head to head 1-0. They met towards the end of last year where Humbert won in Paris in 3 tiebreak sets. It was such a tight match which could have gone either way, and I think that this match is going to very tight as well. Humbert will have the confidence as he knows he can beat Tsitsipas, but I see Tsitsipas getting his revenge in this match because he does not like losing to someone lower ranked to him twice in a row. Expect probably the most entertaining match of the day, with Stefanos Tsitsipas reaching the Quarter-Finals of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
