Nikoloz was not at his best because he has not had to play any matches until his match against Djere, so Djere used that to his advantage and used the momentum he gained in the week to get a good win under his belt. Now that he is in this Semi-Final, he would have been expecting to see Stefanos Tsitsipas, but he has instead Filip Krajinovic as his opponent.
Filip Krajinovic put on an extraordinary comeback victory in the Quarter-Final against the 2020 Finalist here at the Hamburg Open, Stefanos Tsitsipas, coming back from 5-0 down in the first set to win in 3 sets 3-6/6-1/6-3. Filip Krajinovic will be extremely happy with that win and he will know that this is the joint best win in his career. However, it is always hard to back huge wins up, and now that he meets Laslo Djere in the Semi-Finals of the 2021 Hamburg Open, he will have to be at his best right from the start.
Filip Krajinovic and Laslo Djere have met 6 times before, with Filip Krajinovic leading the head to head 4-2. They are very good competitors on clay and they will definitely give it their all out here. However, going off of who they beat in the Quarter-Finals, Filip was able to beat a much tougher opponent in Tsitsipas and he will definitely come out here knowing that if he can beat Tsitsipas he can beat Djere.
