Will Pablo Carreno Busta continue to perform strongly in 2021 as he aims to get back into his groove on the clay courts of the 2021 Hamburg Open? This will be an interesting battle between two Spaniards, but only one will make their way to the Quarter-Finals of the 2021 Hamburg Open. Who will it be?
Carlos Taberner has already caused an upset against a more experienced Spaniard, Feliciano Lopez, in the First Round, beating him in 3 sets 6-4/3-6/6-3. Carlos is relatively unknown in the tennis scene, being ranked 114th in the world. This is both a positive and a negative for him. It is positive for him because mainstay ATP Tour opponents will not know exactly what to expect from him in a match, somewhat like Feliciano Lopez when he lost on Tuesday. However, it is also negative as he will not know how to be composed in tight and extremely important moments against experienced and in form opponents like Pablo Carreno Busta.
Pablo Carreno Busta will be happy to be back on the clay courts here at the 2021 Hamburg Open, as he succeeds much more in this surface. On grass last month, Pablo was able to reach the Semi-Finals of the Mallorca Open, but then lost in the opening round of Wimbledon. On clay this year, Pablo has been very successful, winning the Andalucia Open and reaching the Fourth Round of Roland Garros. Pablo is very experienced and so hard to beat from the back of the court, and I am sure he will come out here ready to dominate against Carlos Taberner right from the start.
Pablo Carreno Busta and Carlos Taberner have never met before, with this being their first meeting on the ATP Tour. Carlos will have definitely gained a lot of confidence from his first ATP Tour win of the year, against an experienced opponent in Lopez, however, he will have to be at a much higher level against Pablo who is levels above Lopez nowadays. Pablo does not want to mess around and he will know that if he is at his best here at the 2021 Hamburg Open, he has a very strong chance to make the Final and give himself a shot at the title. He will not waste time and get himself into the Quarter-Finals.
