Will Barbora Krejcikova continue playing well in her fairytale run which saw her win the French Open title as an unseeded player earlier this month? This will be a good match to see where Barbora Krejcikova’s game is on grass. Can she make her way to the Round of 64 of the 2021 Wimbledon Championships?
Clara Tauson did not have a good start to her grass court season, losing in the Round of 32 of the Homburg Open last week. Clara Tauson is not well known on the WTA, mainly focusing on Challenger tournaments as she can only really compete there. However, in the early rounds of Grand Slams on the Women’s side nowadays, it is hard to predict who will be the breakthrough star. She now meets someone who was in her position just earlier this month, Barbora Krejcikova, who then able to win her maiden Singles Grand Slam title. Can Clara get even remotely close to that run?
Barbora Krejcikova is looking to show us that she was not just a one tournament wonder after winning the biggest title of her career at the French Open earlier this month, causing 7 upsets in a row to lift the trophy! Alongside the Singles title, Krejcikova was also able to win the Doubles title as well. Now that she has proven herself, she will know that the pressure is even higher to see if she can do it again. She will meet an up and coming and lower ranked opponent in Clara Tauson, so she will not be fighting upwards like she did at the French, so she will have to ensure she imposes her dominance.
Barbora Krejcikova and Clara Tauson have never met before, with this being their first encounter. Clara Tauson will want to make a name for herself at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships, especially as she has seen her opponent do the same at Roland Garros not long ago. However, I think she is too inexperienced to get anything going. Barbora was a successful Doubles player before making her magical run, whilst Clara is not playing often in main tour tournaments. I see Barbora coming out here, imposing her dominance, and making us remember her strong game. She will make the Round of 64 of the 2021 Wimbledon Championships.
