Alejandro Davidovich Fokina is currently ranked #46 in the ATP world rankings and is unseeded here at the 2021 French Open. The young Spaniard has turned heads in recent times with his flashy performances, and has started strongly here at Roland Garros. The highlight of his campaign so far was a five set victory over fifteenth seed Casper Ruud. That was a huge victory for Davidovich Fokina as Ruud was one of the in-form clay court players this season, and had reached two Masters-1000 Semi-Finals on the surface. Alejandro Davidovich Fokina enters this match against Federico Delbonis as the favorite, but they are very close in the rankings and his opponent is very highly experienced.
