Will Jaume Munar finally win his first career ATP Tour Title as he looks to back up his strong performance against the young Carlos Alcaraz? Will Pablo Carreno Busta show everyone that he is one of the best Spaniards out there on the ATP Tour and control the match off better than he did in his Semi-final? Both players have put on superb performances all tournament and are extremely able to win the title if they are at their best, but only one will. Who will it be?
Jaume Munar was able to beat the up-and-coming star which is Carlos Alcaraz in two extremely tight sets in the Semi-finals on Saturday, winning 7-6(4)/6-4. Munar was able to use a lot of spin to prevent Alcaraz from hitting the ball as flat as he would have liked, and in the end, this proved vital to Jaume Munar’s victory. Munar has been playing professionally since 2014, however, he has not played 100 matches in his career yet, and he has mainly focused on playing on the Challenger Tour. This will put him at a serious disadvantage here as he does not have the same experience as his opponent Pablo Carreno Busta here at the 2021 Andalucia Open who has played nearly 370 matches on the ATP Tour.
Pablo Carreno Busta came through an extremely tight encounter in the Semi-finals against Albert Ramos-Vinolas, beating his fellow Spaniard in 3 sets 6-1/3-6/7-6(5). Pablo started the match strongly and was so dominant, however, he then let his guard down and allowed Albert Ramos-Vinolas back into the match. Pablo went down a break in the final set, but he was able to break back when Albert Ramos-Vinolas was serving for the match, eventually taking it in the tiebreak. This match was definitely Pablo Carreno Busta’s most hard of the week here at the 2021 Andalucia Open, and if he wants to lift the title, he needs to make sure he remains concentrated at all times against Jaume Munar.
Pablo Carreno Busta and Jaume Munar have never met before, and this is going to be their first encounter on the ATP Tour. Both of them have played great tennis here at the 2021 Andalucia Open, however, there is just too much inexperience in these matches for Jaume Munar in my opinion. Pablo Carreno Busta has won 200 matches on the ATP Tour and he has won 4 titles throughout his career. Whilst Jaume Munar has won under 40 matches and not won any titles. The experience of Pablo Carreno Busta will give him a big edge here, and I see him winning this one to lift his 5th title.
