TennisSection previews the 2021 Miami Open as Jannik Sinner (21) meets Hubert Hurkacz (26) in the Final on Sunday April 4th, 2021.
A very unexpected Final is upon us here at the 2021 Miami Open, but it is sure to be a very exciting one. Young stars Jannik Sinner and Hubert Hurkacz will face off in a match that no one could have predicted but they both fully deserve to be here. Both men are in their First ATP-1000 Final, will it be the highly rated Jannik Sinner getting the win and claiming his first Masters-1000 trophy? Or can the talented Hurkacz continue his great form and take the prize?
Jannik Sinner is considered the brightest young talent on the ATP Tour, and has been outstanding so far here in the 2021 Miami Open. Already with two ATP titles to his name at the tender age of 19, there is seemingly nothing that he cannot do and he is the youngest Miami Open Finalist since Novak Djokovic. He displayed maturity well beyond his years in his Semi-Final win over Roberto Bautista-Agut, holding his nerve to come from a set down and win 5-7, 6-4, 6-4. It is that temperament that makes him a near certainty for the top 10 in the future, in addition to his explosive game. He is now considered the favorite for the title, however his opponent Hubert Hurkacz is also in tremendous form and cannot be taken lightly.
Hubert Hurkacz is currently ranked #37 in the ATP world rankings and has been in fantastic form here at the 2021 Miami Open. He has strung together an impressive run of four consecutive upset wins, taking out Denis Shapovalov, Milos Raonic, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Andrey Rublev en route to the Final. The last two victories were particularly outstanding, since Rublev and Tsitsipas are perhaps the most in-form players on the ATP Tour in 2021. He possesses a huge serve and big baseline game, and is capable of beating anyone on his day. He has traditionally struggled with consistency but seems to have put it all together. While he doesn’t get the headlines that Jannik Sinner does, he is a very dangerous player and certainly has all the tools to win his first Masters-1000 title.
This is sure to be a blockbuster Final between the two explosive young players. They have surprisingly never played each other on the ATP Tour, so their head to head record stands at 0-0. Both players have played fantastic attacking tennis this week and it is very difficult to pick a winner between them. After a lot of consideration, we are going with Jannik Sinner to win here and claim his first ATP-1000 Title. TennisSection picked him as a dark horse title contender at the 2021 Miami Open and we are delighted to see that he has repaid our faith in him. The young Italian star simply oozes quality and it would not be a surprise to see him crack the top 10 by the end of the year. Hubert Hurkacz will put up a huge fight but Jannik Sinner will be the 2021 Miami Open champion.
