TennisSection previews the 2021 Miami Open as Andrey Rublev (4) meets Sebastian Korda in the Quarter-finals on Thursday, April 1st 2021.
Will Sebastian Korda continue his dream run of form as he looks to make his maiden ATP Masters 1000 Semi-final by causing the biggest upset of the week against Andrey Rublev? Will Andrey Rublev continue to cruise through his matches here in Miami as he looks to continue dominating the ATP Tour in 2021? Both players have been in great form here at the 2021 Miami Open, but only one will make their way to the Semi-finals. Who will it be?
Sebastian Korda put on a great performance in the Fourth Round, beating the in form Diego Schwartzman in 3 sets 6-3/4-6/7-5. This was Sebastian Korda’s first Top 10 victory and he is continuing to impress the tennis world. Entering his maiden ATP Masters 1000 Quarter-final, Sebastian Korda will be very determined to continue making a strong impression on the ATP Tour, but he will have to be wary that he is going to meet one of the toughest players to beat on the ATP Tour at the moment, in Andrey Rublev. Rublev is of course beatable, but will Sebastian Korda have the self-belief knowing that the only people who have beaten Rublev in 2021 have been Daniil Medvedev, Roberto Bautista Agut, and Aslan Karatsev?
Andrey Rublev cruised through his Fourth Round match against the very experienced Marin Cilic, beating the Grand Slam Champion in straight sets 6-4/6-4. Andrey Rublev seems to be on top of his game here in Miami, not having lost a set yet, and having won 36 games, and only losing 14 games. Rublev will be very determined to make his way to the Semi-finals here at the 2021 Miami Open as he knows that he will probably be the favourite for the title as he is the most in form player on the ATP Tour at the moment. Rublev, however, will have to ensure that he is on top of his game in the Quarter-finals as he meets an impressive Sebastian Korda to ensure he does not fall subject to an upset.
Andrey Rublev and Sebastian Korda have never met before, and we are definitely in for an extremely tight encounter here in the Quarter-finals of the 2021 Miami Open. Both players will bring out their best in this very important match, and we are going to be in for an entertaining encounter. Although Sebastian Korda has been playing at his best level and causing upsets left, right, and centre, I just do not see him beating the extremely in form Andrey Rublev. Rublev is a Top 10 player, Top 5 player if you actually only look at points earned since 2020, and he will want to get yet another title under his belt by winning the biggest title of his career here in Miami. Rublev will not let the young pretender in Sebastian Korda cause the upset here in this Quarter-final of the 2021 Miami Open.
