TennisSection previews the 2021 Miami Open as Diego Schwartzman (5) meets Yasutaka Uchiyama in the Second Round on Saturday, March 27th 2021.
Will Diego Schwartzman bounce back after losing in his only match in Acapulco last week to the up and coming Italian Lorenzo Musetti? Will Yasutaka Uchiyama be able to put come more pressure on Diego Schwartzman in a season where he has not really lived up to the level we saw from him in 2020, and potentially cause the upset? We are definitely in for a tight match here in the Second Round of the Miami Open, but who will come through?
Yasutaka Uchiyama was able to come through a very hard-fought First Round match against Salvatore Caruso, beating the Italian in 2 sets, 6-3/6-4. Yasutaka is a very good player, especially in the early rounds of ATP 250 tournaments, but when it comes to the bigger tournaments like these, he has not been known for showing up and getting the job done. Uchiyama will have to drastically improve his level here if he is to get anything out of the Miami Open other than a First Round victory as he meets the very tough to beat and motivated Diego Schwartzman. Can Yasutaka Uchiyama shock us all and get the job done here in this Second Round encounter in Miami?
Diego Schwartzman will be looking to bounce back after a very tough loss to Lorenzo Musetti last week in the early rounds of the Acapulco Open. Schwartzman entered the match as the favourite, but he was just pushed all over the place by the up and coming Italian, and in the end he just did not have enough energy and enough pace on his serve to keep up with him. Schwartzman has had a good start to 2021, winning the Buenos Aires Open, but it just does not seem he is playing at the same level we saw him play at last year on hard-courts. However, with Schwartzman, we can never discount him as he has time and time again proved everyone wrong with both his ability to play on different surfaces, and get into some big matches. Can Schwartzman beat Yasutaka Uchiyama to bounce back?
Diego Schwartzman and Yasutaka Uchiyama have never met before, and I am sure Uchiyama will be entering this match with confidence based on Diego’s last match and based on his First Round victory. However, I see Diego bouncing back here from that loss to Lorenzo Musetti, and he will be giving it his all to not let this one-loss turn into a slump. It might be a 3-setter just because Yasutaka Uchoyama has already gotten some minutes under his belt in these conditions and he will be feeling the courts nicely, but at the end of the day, Diego Schwartzman should come out on top and make his way to the Third Round of the Miami Open.
