TennisSection previews the 2021 Qatar Open as Andrey Rublev (3) meets Roberto Bautista Agut (5) in the Semi-Finals on Friday, March 12 2021.
Will Andrey Rublev finally get his Qatar title retaining campaign off with a great win? Will Roberto Bautista Agut come in here and be able to knock the man of the moment, Andrey Rublev, out of the tournament? This is going to be a very tight encounter, and here at TennisSection, we are ready to provide you with our best tennis previews and predictions. Who will win this very exciting matchup on Friday?
Andrey Rublev has been able to make his way through to the Semi-Finals here at the 2021 Qatar Open without even playing a match! Andrey was scheduled to play Richard Gasquet on Wednesday in his first match here in the second round, but Gasquet had to retire due to a leg injury. In the Quarter-Finals, we were supposed to see a rematch of the 2021 Rotterdam Open Final only 4 days after they met there as Andrey Rublev was scheduled to play Marton Fucsovics. However, Fucsovics had to also retire due to injury. All of this has been a positive thing for Andrey as he has been able to get accustom to the playing conditions here in Qatar without risking his singles title. Rublev has played 3 matches in the Men’s Doubles here, with his partner Aslan Karatsev, and they have been able to book themselves in the Doubles Final.
Will we see a very impressive win over Roberto Bautista Agut by Andrey Rublev as he has been able to rest after a title run in Rotterdam just last week, and get accustom to the conditions here through his doubles matches?
Roberto Bautista Agut has been superb here at the 2021 Qatar Open, playing some of the best tennis we have seen in a long time. Roberto Bautista Agut knocked out the No.1 seed in the Quarter-Finals in what was an incredible match. Roberto won in 3 tight sets, 7-6(3)/2-6/6-4. The incredible part of Roberto Bautista Agut’s game is his ability to continuously fight for every single point, no matter if its 5 shots or 40 shots. Roberto has great stamina and he will definitely know that if he continues to play at this extremely high level, he will cause some issues to some other of the biggest players in the world. Now Roberto will need to focus on recovering in time and getting his body ready for yet another grueling and tough match against an opponent who he’s had some great matches with, Andrey Rublev.
This is going to be the fifth meeting between both players, with the head to head tied at 2-2. This is definitely going to be a very tight encounter as both players are playing some great tennis at the moment. However, if I have to choose who we believe is going to have more energy, skill, and momentum behind them in this match, it is hard to go against Andrey Rublev. Andrey Rublev is the man of the moment, and I do not see that changing here against Roberto Bautista Agut. Rublev is outpowering anyone and everyone, and he will want to make sure he retains his title. Roberto Bautista Agut can definitely beat Andrey on his day, but at the moment, Andrey Rublev is on top of his game. This match will be over in 2 very tight sets in my opinion, with Andrey Rublev booking his spot in the Final.
