Grieskpoor vs Thompson Head-to-Head

Jordan Thompson leads Tallon Griekpsoor 1-0 in their head-to-head. The Aussie won the pair’s only clash in a Davis Cup singles rubber last year.

Griekspoor vs Thompson Prediction

Tallon Griekspoor advanced into his first final on home soil, beating Emil Ruusuvuori in straight sets in Saturday’s semifinal. Griekspoor broke Rusuuvori once in each set, while saving four break points (including one set point late in the second set) on his own serve. Griekspoor prevailed by the narrowest of margins and he’ll hope he can continue to serve irresistibly on Sunday against Jodan Thompson.

Thompson won the all-Australian clash against lucky loser Rinky Hijikata. It was another tight match of the day which saw a combined 15 successive holds. Thompson won the first set in a tiebreak, converting set point in the only minibreak of the tiebreak at 6-5. And the 29-year-old broke Hijikata midway through the second set to establish clear daylight. Thompson is appearing in his second career ATP final in Den Bosch (lost to Adrian Mannarino in 2019). The Aussie is incredibly versatile and has a solid all-round level of play. But there is no denying that Griekspoor has a higher ceiling and there is a lot that is going so well for him this year. Griekspoor is playing for a seeding spot at Wimbledon and the fact that he’s won an ATP title this season, he’ll keep his nerves under control. And lest we forget, he’s playing on home soil. Last year, Tim van Rijthoven was cheered on every step of the way, and Griekspoor will infinitely get incredible fan support to push him over the line. Back the Dutchman to clinch his second title of 2023.
