Stefanos Tsitsipas is set to lock horns with Richard Gasquet as two one-handers go toe to toe on grass. Tsitsipas has an aesthetic forehand, but he’s not particularly utilized that weapon to great effect. He has struggled to replicate his form from clay to grass consistently. He did, however, win his first grass-court title in Mallorca last season, so he is steadily learning his trade on the surface. Gasquet came through his opening match in Stuttgart against the big-serving Christopher Eubanks 7-6, 6-4. The Frenchman withstood 15 aces from his opponent and sliced the Eubanks’ serve twice in the match to pinch a hard-fought win. Gasquet won their only previous meeting on grass and Tsitsipas cannot take him lightly here. Tsitsipas is playing for the first time since losing to Alcaraz at the French Open, so he might take a while here to get going. Expect the Greek to survive narrowly.
