Marin could afford to lose that match against Hungary as they are not that good in doubles so Croatia could still come through. However, now that we are in the business end of the tournament, any mistake like that will not go unpunished, and I think that marin needs to ensure his serve and forehand are firing to their best because without them he can at times be a sitting duck. Jannik Sinner has been dominant here at the 2021 Davis Cup Finals, beating John Isner and Daniel Elahi Galan both in straight sets, handing both of them a bagel each. Jannik has shown incredible form and has shown us that he is definitely a top 10 level player. Team Italy know they can be a thorn in any country’s side here, and with the fact that they have both experience and youth in their team, they will want to show the world that they are to be feared. Jannik will want to continue to dominate easily, but he knows against Marin Cilic it will never be an easy match.
Jannik Sinner and Marin Cilic have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. Obviously Marin Cilic is the much more experienced player, with many more titles and accomplishments. However, Jannik is 13 years younger and he has accomplished so much already by the age of 20, which means that if he continues to go at this rate, he will surpass Cilic’ accomplishments in the next half decade. Marin showed weakness in his movement in his last match, and I am sure that Jannik will come out here and show us why he is the star of the future with his amazing movement and accuracy, especially on indoor hard courts like we have here at the 2021 Davis Cup Finals.
