TennisSection previews the 2021 Umag Open as Albert Ramos-Vinolas (1) takes on Carlos Alcaraz (7) in the Semi-Finals on Saturday, July 24th, 2021.
Will Carlos Alcaraz continue to perform strongly on clay as he aims to make it to the final by beating the in form and experienced clay courter Albert Ramos-Vinolas? Will Albert Ramos-Vinolas get one step closer to his 2nd title of the year as he has shown great performances on clay in 2021? Both players can win this match if they are at their best, but only one will make their way to the Final of the 2021 Umag Open. Who will it be?
Carlos Alcaraz came through a very entertaining match in the Quarter-Finals, beating Filip Krajinovic in 3 sets, 7-6/2-6/6-1. Carlos is in great form at the moment and he will want to keep this momentum going because he knows that it would only be a matter of time before his maiden ATP Tour title comes into his hands if he plays like that in every match. However, Alcaraz is not as experienced in these clay-court conditions, so he will have to be at his best coming into this Semi-Final as he meets Albert Ramos-Vinolas who has been superb on clay in 2021.
Albert Ramos-Vinolas cruised through his Semi-Final match here at the 2021 Umag Open, beating Stefano Travaglia in straight sets 6-2/6-1. Albert Ramos-Vinolas will know that he is the title favourite now and that if he is playing at his best, he should win his 2nd title of the year here at the 2021 Umag Open. Albert is so good from the baseline on clay because he has great stamina and movement, allowing him to stay in long and draining rallies and tire his opponents out. Now, Albert will know he has a serious challenge from his younger Spaniard, Carlos Alcaraz, in this Semi-Final, so he will have to utilize all of his experience to come through.
Albert Ramos-Vinolas and Carlos Alcaraz have met 1 time before, with Carlos Alcaraz leading the head to head 1-0. Although Albert Ramos-Vinolas has been great this week, Carlos has been even better. Carlos has so much talent/potential and when he is confident in his game, as we have seen recently, he is very hard to beat. Alcaraz is determined to win his maiden ATP Tour title, so he will have more willingness to put it all out on the line here and he will beat the experienced Albert Ramos-Vinolas to get one step closer to the 2021 Umag Open title.
