Vit Kopriva absolutely dominated his match in the Quarter-Finals against Mikael Ymer, beating the very tough Ymer in straight sets 6-1/6-0. Vit Kopriva is playing like he has nothing to lose and this mentality has allowed him to play with freedom and dominate matches against opponents. Kopriva has now won two great upsets in a row, beating Denis Shapovalov before Mikael Ymer. Vit Kopriva will want to make it a hattrick of upsets but he will have to raise his level even more as he meets Casper Ruud here at the 2021 Gstaad Open.
Casper Ruud put on a solid performance in yet another match on clay this month, beating the experienced and somewhat in form Benoit Paire in 3 sets, 6-2/5-7/6-3. Casper Ruud is the man of the moment in these small ATP 250 tournaments and he will know that the more he wins in these smaller tournaments, the more he will believe he can get as far if not further in bigger tournaments. Casper Ruud is so powerful from the baseline and he has such heavy spin on his shots that it is hard to keep up with him and his stamina. Vit Kopriva is definitely a man on a mission but Ruud will know that he needs to be at his best here at the 2021 Gstaad Open to prevent the upset.
Casper Ruud and Vit Kopriva have never met before, with this being their first meeting on the ATP Tour. Vit Kopriva will have incredible belief in himself right now after getting two huge wins under his belt in his first ever tournament on the ATP Tour.
