Marketa Vonrousova has never won a match at Wimbledon or had any results on grass. She will need to most likely make a complete change up to her strategy if she wants to get through this one.
Anett Kontaveit has just come off an amazing week in Eastbourne, making a run to the finals and eventually falling to Jelena Ostapenko. She should be coming into the 2021 Wimbledon Championships with loads of confidence, and I expect her to make a strong showing on Monday and get through Marketa Vonrousova with a straightforward win. Anett Kontaveit has had good results all year, just not being able to get through some top players, she has the potential to go further this year though, and back up her great results on the grass already.
Marketa Vonrousova and Anett Kontaveit have played once before, with Marketa Vonrousova leading their head to head 1-0. Their only encounter was a WTA Tour final in Biel from 4 years ago. This doesn’t mean much for their match in Wimbledon though, but it does show that it’s not out of the realm of possibility for Marketa Vonrousova to pull it off.
