Since then, Pablo Carreno Busta has made sure he did not play any tournaments after the Australian Open to get his body back to 100%. Now that he is feeling better in his abdomen, Pablo Carreno Busta is ready to compete here at the Dubai Open. Pablo Carreno Busta has an amazing return game and he has made great waves in the tennis world over the last year, reaching the Semi-Finals of the 2020 US Open, and nearly making it to the Final. Pablo Carreno Busta will have been very happy with how late his opponent, Marton Fucsovics, played last night, as he knows that he will be tired coming into this match.
Marton Fucsovics put it all on the line on Monday in his First Round match against Vasek Pospisil, beating the big swinging and serving Canadian in 3 sets. Marton had to come back from a set and 4-1 down in the second set, to win it 2-6/7-5/6-4. The real factor in this match that swung it the way of Fucsovics, was his consistency and his stamina, allowing him to continuously play 20+ shot points, making Vasek Pospisil move more than he is comfortable doing, and tiring him out. Fucsovics has been in great form recently, making the Final in Rotterdam and the Quarter-Finals in Qatar. Now, in Dubai, Fucsovics will have to ensure he recovers in time before he faces an opponent who loves playing 20+ shot rallies in most points, Pablo Carreno Busta. Will Fucsovics recover in time to ensure he is ready for this challenge in Dubai?
Pablo Carreno Busta and Marton Fucsovics have never met before, and this is going to be their first encounter. Both players are great ralliers and returners, and this game is really going to come down to who is able to stay in the points longer and force their opponent to make the mistake. Unfortunately for Marton Fucsovics, I don’t see him having enough stamina left to go another 2-3 hours against a guy like Pablo Carreno Busta. Against Pospisil, Fucsovics had the advantage as he thrives more in rallying conditions unlike Pospisil who prefers just to serve big. However, against Pablo Carreno Busta, he will not have the edge. This will be a tight encounter, but I think that Pablo Carreno Busta will edge this one in 3 tight sets.
